New & Interim Directors - Charge

The New & Interim Directors Committee is charged with assessing and implementing opportunities to assist with meeting the needs of AAHSL members who are in new or interim library director positions. A “new” director is defined as someone who has been a director for less than five years. This committee will be responsible for running the Buddy Program (currently run by the FLC and will transition to the New/Interim Directors committee).

The New & Interim Directors Committee should submit an updated committee charge by February 1, 2023 based on their assessment of needs. Potential activities could include:

  • Creating an email list just for new/interim directors
  • Organizing a series of online forums where experiences, information, and advice can be shared among new/interim directors
  • Providing specific training focused on becoming a new director, possibly a New Director symposia
