Come Connect and Collaborate at the AAHSL 4th Friday eSalon

Join us at the monthly eSalon! These director-only casual, unstructured discussions will have a general topic each month for attendees to share, brainstorm, and learn from each other. The topics will be geared to the unique needs of those in academic health sciences library leadership and facilitated by AAHSL members. Attendance is optional, free, and open to all AASHL directors.

July 2026 Topic: Building teams that go the distance

Facilitator: Jill Deaver

Description: We are talking about team building and what it really takes to cultivate healthy, supportive cultures in our organizations. To do this, we’re drawing inspiration from an unexpected place: Jill’s run coach and Ultramarathoner, Lisa Booher. Together, we’ll explore what it takes to run 100 miles—and why no one does it alone. We’ll look at the power of having a crew, the lessons that emerge from every mile, and the surprising parallels between ultrarunning and leadership journeys: perseverance, pacing, rest, setbacks, and community…and naps!

This is a rerun of Jill and Erinn Aspinall’s Leadership Fellows Program virtual session from February.

The format will be a little different. Heres what to expect: The session will include a group watch of Jill’s interview with Lisa, followed by a lively conversation. While the video plays, light up the chat with youraha moments, your questions, and the connections you’re making to team building. Bring your curiosity and your energy—this is meant to be interactive, reflective, and fun.
