Scholarly Communication Committee - Charge

 

The AAHSL Board appointed the Scholarly Communication Committee in February 2003. The Committee is charged with developing, recommending, and guiding the implementation of a plan and activities in support of the Association’s response to the range of issues relating to Scholarly Communication, which may include but not be limited to the following: 

 

1) Models of scholarly publishing, including investigation, analysis and consideration of Association support, collaboration, or other responses.

 

2) Advocacy to advance sustainable, effective and economically viable models of scholarly communication that are beneficial to our user community.

 

3) Communications, strategies and activities to inform, educate, and collaborate with academic health sciences administrators, faculty, or others stakeholders and organizations in the scholarly communications process.

 

4) Communications, strategies and activities to inform and educate Association members,including mechanisms for sharing and disseminating information from and to members through timely and appropriate methods. The Committee will provide annual reports and develop action plans, as appropriate. The report issued in 2005 does include a recommendation regarding continuation of the Committee.
